PlainSong Music Services is one of Indiana's largest private music therapy practices, serving individuals, families, schools, and organizations throughout Central Indiana. Since opening in 2016, we've grown into a team of clinicians who care deeply about their work, their communities, and the future of music therapy. We're proud of what we've built, and we're intentional about who gets to be part of it. Healthcare has become increasingly focused on numbers, documentation, funding requirements, and productivity. Those things are real, and running a responsible practice means taking them seriously. But somewhere in all of that, it's easy to lose sight of why people enter helping professions in the first place. At PlainSong, we work hard to keep the people at the center of the work. We want our clients and families to feel known, respected, and connected to their community, and we want our therapists to have meaningful relationships with the people they serve. We also believe that music therapy deserves the same professional respect as other healthcare disciplines, which means advocating for the field while holding ourselves to the clinical standards that earn that respect. There's a lot of personality here, plenty of laughter, and a willingness to try things that other practices might not. But underneath all of that is a team that takes its responsibilities very seriously. The Position We're hiring a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) who wants to do meaningful clinical work while contributing to a practice that's actively involved in its community and the development of the profession. Our therapists work across a variety of populations and settings, which creates opportunities to develop new skills, discover clinical interests, and build relationships that extend beyond individual sessions. Depending on the caseload, responsibilities may include:

  • Providing individual and group music therapy for children and adults with a variety of clinical needs.
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation, social connection, independence, and functional skill development.
  • Delivering services in our Anderson clinic and community-based settings.
  • Collaborating with families, caregivers, educators, and other professionals.
  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, maintaining accurate documentation, and monitoring clinical progress.
  • Participating in professional development, clinical collaboration, and organizational initiatives.
  • Contributing ideas for new programs, community partnerships, therapeutic camps, and other services as opportunities develop.
  • We encourage therapists to explore their interests and bring new ideas to the table. That doesn't mean every idea will become a program, but thoughtful initiative and creative problem-solving are genuinely valued here. Our Culture and Expectations PlainSong is a fun place to work, but it isn't a casual place to practice. We have high expectations for our clinicians because our clients, their families, and the organizations that trust us deserve excellent care. Being a talented musician or having a passion for helping people is a good starting point, but it isn't enough on its own. Our therapists are expected to bring sound clinical reasoning to their sessions, use evidence-informed approaches, follow through on commitments, communicate professionally, and consistently meet the responsibilities of their positions. That includes documentation, productivity expectations, preparation, and the less exciting parts of healthcare that still have to be done well. We also expect our team members to take ownership of their work. When something isn't going well, we want people who communicate, ask for help, consider feedback, and actively participate in finding solutions. Mistakes happen, and nobody here is expected to have all the answers, but accountability and a willingness to improve are nonnegotiable. Just as importantly, we expect our therapists to care about th
