You will provide individualized and group music therapy services in our thoughtfully designed studio and throughout the community while collaborating with a team that genuinely enjoys learning from one another. Through mentorship, shared ideas, and ongoing professional development, you will continue growing as a clinician while cultivating your own unique clinical voice.

You will build meaningful relationships with clients and families, create music therapy experiences that honor each individual's strengths, and help every client feel successful.

Your Day to Day

Assess clients' social, emotional, communication, physical, cognitive, and musical needs to develop individualized treatment plans.
Plan and facilitate engaging individual and group music therapy and adapted lesson sessions using evidence based musical interventions while continuously reassessing client progress.
Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and treatment plan updates.
Collaborate closely with the Clinical Supervisor, OCMS team members, families and related service providers to ensure coordinated, client centered care.
Represent the organization through recitals, special events, community outreach, and family engagement activities while promoting inclusive and fun music experiences.

What We Are Looking For

Required qualifications:

MT-BC (Music Therapist - Board Certified) credential, or board-eligible with a scheduled exam date
Functional skills on piano, guitar, and voice
Experience with autism and a range of neurodiverse diagnoses
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Valid drivers license

Preferred qualifications:

Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) training or certification
Experience with pediatric clients and child development
Experience leading groups across ages and abilities
Familiarity with Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) and AAC
Additional instrumental skills (ukulele, percussion, voice, etc.).

Compensation and benefits

We believe great care starts with taking care of the people providing it. Our compensation model is designed to value both your clinical expertise and the behind-the-scenes work that makes meaningful services possible.

This is an hourly, W2 position built around the belief that meaningful work happens both inside and outside of the therapy room. Your clinical expertise, preparation, documentation, collaboration, and continued growth all play an important role in the care we provide.

About OCMS and The Mission You’ll Be A Part Of

You will be entrusted with supporting some of the most important people in our community. Every client who walks through our doors or welcomes you into their home has been placed in our care because their family believes in what we do.

As a Music Therapist at OC Music Services, you will provide client centered music therapy, adapted music lessons, and traditional music instruction to children and adults throughout Orange County in our studio, clients' homes, schools, and senior living communities.

Many of the individuals you will serve have spent much of their lives searching for environments where they feel accepted, understood, and empowered. Many are neurodiverse or have disabilities, and for them, our studio is more than a place to receive services. It is a place where they can belong, build meaningful relationships, celebrate their strengths, and reach goals that matter to them.
