The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking Music Therapists to provide therapeutic programming to members at our Veterans Homes. The Homes are 24/7/365 skilled nursing, long-term care facilities that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. One position is available at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK), located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton.

One position is available at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove (WVHUG), in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations in southeastern Wisconsin.

This Therapist-Senior provides therapeutic programming to the mostly disabled and/or geriatric resident population at the Veterans Home. This position assesses, develops, and implements a music therapy treatment program for individual members and groups. The incumbent utilizes avenues such as musical instruments, vocal activities, and non-musical devices and props, to achieve therapeutic goals and coordinates treatment among other modalities outlined in the members’ care plan and communicates as an active part of the members’ health care team.

This position works a base schedule of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekend hours.

Work is performed on site. Remote work is not available.

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.
